Custom filter components and operators

Use these components and operators when you build a custom filter. For steps, see Build a custom filter.

Filter components

When you create a filter, you can add conditions or condition groups. A condition group contains multiple conditions.

Component Description Example Example outcome
Condition Filters consist of conditions. Each condition includes a field, an operator, and a value.

Displays all devices with a customer name that exactly matches “Customer 1”.
Groups Combine filter expressions into nested groups by using the following logical operators.
  • And
  • Or

Include at least two filter conditions in each group.

 Displays all results that match either of the And groups. This means the device type is Server and the operating system is macOS, Or the device type is Desktop and the operating system is Windows.

Comparison operators

Comparison operators compare the value in a field with the value you enter.

Logical operators

Logical operators join conditions or groups.

Operator Result
And Includes results that meet every condition.
Or Includes results that meet at least one condition.
Not And Excludes results that meet every condition.
Not Or Excludes results that meet at least one condition.
