Create custom filters for Ecoverse views

The Filter Builder in the Ecoverse views helps you create custom filters to specific lists based on your requirements. The examples and instructions below demonstrate how to use filtering to achieve the desired results by building complex filters from basic components.

Click an operator in the tables below to open and close the examples. While the examples do not cover all possible combinations, they provide insight into how the And, Or, Not And and Not Or operators interact to produce results.

  • And and Or will include devices that meet the criteria in the filtered devices list.
  • Not And and Not Or will exclude devices that meet the criteria from the filtered devices list.
Single Operators

Scenario

As a User I need to filter the devices to view only those when Device type is Desktop and OS is Macos.

Solution

By using the And combination of Device type and OS you can include devices that meet both criteria.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation as And.
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select the Device type, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Desktop.
  4. Click the+ symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select OS, set operator as Is any of and enter a value as Macos.
  6. Click OK.

Result

This filter will only include devices that meet both the criteria Device type is Desktop and OS is Macos.

Scenario

As a User I need to filter devices to view all that contain Customer name is Test or Device type is Server.

Solution

By using the Or combination of Customer name and Device type you can include devices that meet either criterion.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation as Or.
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select Customer name, set the operator as Contains and enter a value as Test.
  4. Click the+ symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select Device type and set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Server.
  6. Click OK.

Result

The filter will only include devices that meet either criteria, Customer name is Test or Device type is Server.

Scenario

As a User I need to filter to exclude devices that have a Device type of Server and the OS is Windows.

Solution

Use the Not And operator to exclude specific combinations. In this case, we will excluded devices that are Device type of Sever and the OS is Windows.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation as Not And.
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select the Device type, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Server.
  4. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select OS and set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Windows.
  6. Click OK.

Result

This filter will exclude any devices that meet both the criteria Device type of Server and OS is Windows.

Scenario

As a User I need to filter devices to exclude devices that are either Device type of Desktop or the OS is Macos.

Solution

Use the Not Or operator to exclude devices that meet either of the Device type is Desktop or OS is Macos conditions.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation as Not Or
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select Device type, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Desktop.
  4. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select OS and set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Macos.
  6. Click OK.

Result

This filter will exclude devices that meet either criteria Device type is Desktop or OS is Macos.
Grouped Operators

Scenario

As a User I need to filter devices with multiple conditions:

  1. Is Device type of Server andOS any of Windows (And operator)
  2. Not Internal IP address containing 220 and 4GB RAM (Not And operator)

Solution

By Combining an And condition with the Not And condition, we can create a filter that includes specific devices based on multiple criteria while excluding others based on different criteria combinations. In this case, devices with Device type as Server and running Windows are included, while those with both Internal IP address containing 220 and 4GB RAM are excluded from the final result.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation And
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select Device type, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Server.
  4. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select OS and set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Windows.
  6. Click the + symbol and select Add Group, set the group as Not And.
  7. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  8. Select Internal IP address ,set the operator as Contains and enter a value220.
  9. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  10. Select RAM, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value4GB.
  11. Click OK.

Result

This filter will include devices that meet the criteria Device type is Server and have WindowsOS, as well as exclude any devices that meet the criteria Internal IP address contains 220 and RAM is 4GB.

Scenario

As a User I need to filter devices with multiple conditions:

  1. With OS any of Windows orOS Version contains build22631 (Or operator).
  2. Not OS Version contains Enterprise or RAM is any of 4GB (Not Or operator).

Solution

By Combining an Or condition with Not Or condition, we can effectively filter for devices that meet broad inclusion criteria while still excluding specific undesired combinations. Devices running Windows or OS version containing build22631 are included, but those with OS version containing Enterprise or 4GB RAM are excluded from the final result.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation as Or.
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select OS set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Windows.
  4. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select OS Version, set the operator as Contains and enter a value as build22631.
  6. Click the + symbol and select Add Group, set the group as Not Or.
  7. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  8. Select OS Version, set the operator as Contains and enter a value as Enterprise.
  9. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  10. Select RAM, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as 4GB.
  11. Click OK.

Result

This filter will include devices that meet either criteria OS is Windows or OS version contains build22631, as well as exclude any devices that meet either criteria OS version contains Enterprise or RAM is 4GB.

As a User I need to filter devices with multiple conditions:

  1. Is Device type of Server and OS is Windows (And operator).
  2. Not 4GB RAM or Bios has ROM (Not Or operator).

Solution

By using an And combination of Device type and OS you include devices that meet both criteria. Adding a Not Or group allows you to exclude devices that meet either of the specified exclusion criteria, excluding those have either 4GB of RAM or BIOS containing ROM. The final results includes only the devices that meet the inclusive criteria for both conditions without matching the exclusion criteria.

  1. Set the operation as And.
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select the OS, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Windows.
  4. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select Device type, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Server.

  7. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  8. Select RAM, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as 4GB.
  9. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  10. Select BIOS , set the operator as Contains and enter a value as ROM.
  11. Click OK.

Result

This filter will include devices that meet both criteria Device type is Server and OS is Windows, as well as exclude any devices that meet either criteria RAM is 4GB or BIOS contains ROM.

As a User I need to filter devices with multiple conditions:

  1. Is Device type is any of Server or OS Is any of Windows (Or operator).
  2. Not 4GB RAM and BIOS contains ROM (Not And operator)

Solution

By using an Or combination of Device Type and OS, you include devices that meet either criterion. Adding a Not And condition allows us to exclude devices that meet both specified exclusion criteria. In this case we have included devices that are either Severs or running Windows, and excluded those that have both 4 GB of RAM and BIOS contains ROM. The final result includes only the devices that meet the inclusive criteria without matching the exclusion criteria.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation as Or.
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select OS, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Windows.
  4. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select Device type, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Server.
  6. Click the + symbol and select Add Group, set the group as Not And.
  7. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  8. Select RAM, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as 4GB.
  9. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  10. Select BIOS, set the operator as Contains and enter a value as ROM.
  11. Click OK.

Result

This filter will include devices that meet either criteria Device type is Server or OS is Windows, as well as exclude any devices that meet both criteria RAM is 4GB and BIOS contains ROM.

  2. NOT 4GB RAMand BIOS contains ROM (Not And operator).

Solution

By using the Not Or combination of Device type and OS, you exclude devices that meet either criterion. Adding a Not And condition, allows you to further exclude devices that meet both specified criteria. In this case we have excluded devices that are either servers or running Windows and further excluded those that have both BIOS contains ROM and 4GB of RAM. The final result includes only the devices that meet neither exclusion criteria.

In the Filter Builder

  1. Set the operation as Not Or.
  2. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  3. Select OS, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Windows.
  4. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  5. Select Device type, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as Server.
  6. Click the + symbol and select Add Group, set the group as Not And.
  7. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  8. Select RAM, set the operator as Is any of and enter a value as 4GB.
  9. Click the + symbol and select Add Condition.
  10. Select BIOS, set the operator as Contains and enter a value as ROM.
  11. Click OK.

Result

This filter excludes devices that meet either criteria Device type is Server or OS is Windows, as well as include devices that meet both criteria RAM is 4GB and BIOS contains ROM.
