Standard edition features (Windows)
The Standard edition of Remote Background Manager provides essential remote support tools for Windows devices without requiring a full remote desktop session. It enables technicians to perform background tasks quickly and efficiently, minimizing disruption to end users. The Standard edition includes the following features.
Feature availability depends on the Agent version installed on the device.
Standard edition session Notes
- The session window is resizable for ease of use.
- If a feature is unavailable (e.g., due to agent version or configuration), the session dialog will indicate this.
- If a session fails to start while the device is online and Remote Background Manager URLs are reachable, antivirus software may be blocking the winagentrcl.exe process. Add an exclusion for this executable if needed. See Central Servers: Master and Node addresses.
- If the error "Failed to start Remote Background Session. Device not connected." appears, the device may be unreachable.
For Internet Explorer users, add the N-sight RMM address to Trusted Sites to ensure proper session behavior.
Connection methods
- Persistent Connection – Maintains a continuous connection to the device.
