Requirements for asset tagging

System requirements

Asset tagging requires the Modern Agent, which is included automatically in the following agent versions:

Windows Agent version 10.14.2 or later (Update the Windows Agent).
Linux Agent version 2.2.0 or later (Update the Linux Agent).
macOS Agent version 3.10.0 or later (Update the Mac Agent).

User permissions

Tagging permissions vary depending on the tasks a user performs.

Admin and SuperUser roles include Tag Management permissions by default. These permissions cannot be modified or disabled.

On the Roles and Permissions page, in the Ecoverse section, expand Tag Management. Then enable the permissions needed for the tasks below:

Manage definitions: Create and manage tag definitions
View definitions: View tag definitions
Assign tags: Assign and remove tags

Exclusions

You may need to add exclusions to your security solutions (such as firewalls etc.) for the Modern Agent executable and its supporting files (for Ecoverse features) which are downloaded and installed to feature specific directories within the following locations:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Msp Agent\

Linux

/opt/msp-agent/

macOS

/Library/MspAgent/
