This section outlines the operating system, software dependencies, communication requirements, and user permissions needed to use Network Discovery in N-sight.
Operating system requirements
Network Discovery is available for supported Windows versions. For the full list, see: Supported Operating Systems: Windows.
Dependency Framework
Network Discovery uses .NET components as part of its scanning process. The required .NET version is:
If the required version is not installed, the Agent automatically downloads and installs it silently.

Communication requirements
Network ports
Network Discovery scans the network using the following ports:

Push-install requirements
In addition to meeting operating system and network connectivity requirements, target devices must meet the following conditions:
General requirements
- Devices must be online at the time of installation.
- There is no queuing or scheduling for push installs. Offline devices will not receive the Agent.
Windows requirements
- Must be part of a domain or have Admin Shares remotely accessible
- Local firewall must allow File and Printer Sharing
macOS requirements
- Remote Login must be enabled using Terminal or System Preferences > Sharing
- This setting allows standard SSH login for remote terminal access
User permissions
Access to Network Discovery features depends on the user's role and associated permissions in N-sight RMM.
