Protection Policy: Remediation

When a scan detects malware, it is vital to take immediate action to neutralize the threat's impact on the computer. Configure the default action in the Remediation section.

When a scan detects Malware and the corresponding remediation action has been taken, the Managed Antivirus Check does not report as failed.

The remediation action taken depends on the threat's classification and configured response. Select the response from the drop-down menu for each Threat Type.

Bitdefender splits threats into three Threat Types:

Heuristic analysis detects suspicious files.

For potential threats detected heuristically, the agent cannot be sure the file is actually infected. Suspect files cannot be disinfected, because no disinfection routine is available.

No action taken on detection. Detected files only appear in the scan log.

Disinfect

Removes the malware code from infected files.

This is the recommended first action for infected files.

Where disinfection fails. The file moves to the quarantine to contain the infection.

For particular types of malware, disinfection is not possible because the detected file is entirely malicious. In such cases, the infected file is deleted from the disk.

Quarantine

Moves detected files from their current location to the quarantine folder. The user cannot execute or open quarantined files. Removing the risk of infection from these files.
