File System Space Check

Generate an Alert where the available free space on the file system at the selected volume drops below the specified threshold figure, percentage or absolute value (Bytes, Mbytes, Gbytes).

Where a Check is added or edited the new settings are downloaded to the Agent the next time it communicates back to the Dashboard and applied when the Check runs after that.

Dashboard Check configuration

Add

  1. Select the workstation in the North-pane of the Dashboard
  2. Go to the Checks tab
  3. Click Add Check
  4. Choose Add 247 > File System Space Check
  5. Configure the Volume and Threshold
  6. To run an Automated Task when the Check fails choose Assign a Task after creating the Check
  7. OK to save and apply
  8. Where Assign a Task after creating the Check is selected:
    1. Select the script
    2. Click Next
  9. Enter the Command Line parameters (if required)
  10. Set a Script timeout in the range 1 - 3600 seconds (default 120 seconds)
  11. Finish to save and apply

Edit

  1. Select the workstation in the North-pane of the Dashboard
  2. Go to the Checks tab
  3. Select the target File System Space Check
  4. From the Check drop-down
  5. Edit Check (also available from the Check's right-click menu)
  6. Configure the Volume and Threshold and assigned Task (where enabled)
  7. OK to save and apply

Delete

  1. Select the workstation in the North-pane of the Dashboard
  2. Go to the Checks tab
  3. Select the target File System Space Check
  4. From the Check drop-down
  5. Delete Check (also available from the Check's right-click menu)
  6. Enter the password you have logged into the Dashboard under to confirm removal
  7. OK to delete

File System Space Check configuration examples

  • Alert Threshold: 25%
    • An Alert is generated and a failure displayed on the Dashboard when the free space remaining falls below 25%
  • Alert Threshold: 5GB
    • An Alert is generated and a failure displayed on the Dashboard when the free space remaining falls below 5GB

Dashboard

Once uploaded to the Dashboard the More Information column containing the Total and Free space values reported by the Check, whilst clicking on this link opens the More Information... dialog.

  1. Select the workstation in the North-pane of the Dashboard
  2. Go to the Checks tab
  3. Click the More Information link against the target File System Space Check

This dialog includes the overall file system Capacity, the Used space and Free space values along with a graphical representation of this information; the Space percentage is displayed when hovering over the Free space or Used space portion of the graph.
