Enable NetPath on a device

NetPath is enabled after you install it on the device. However, the final installation step only occurs when you assign the device to a path. When NetPath creates the path, the NetPath agent is installed on the device to gather the information.

If you disable NetPath and release the license, you will need to enable it again to use is for a path discovery. Each NetPath-enabled device consumes a NetPath license. This license is consumed only when it is enabled, not when it is installed. So you can install it on many devices, and only enable it as needed, as long as there are available licenses. For more information, see NetPath licensing.

When you enable NetPath, you can define when the installation occurs once added to a path. You an choose to install the moment it is added to a path, or wait for the next installation maintenance window.

The enabling of NetPath can only be performed if the user has NetPath Manage permission.

  1. Click ViewsAll Devices and click the name of the device.
  2. Click SettingsNetPath.
  3. Click the check box for Enable NetPath and select when to compete the installation.
  4. Click Save.

Deploying NetPath on devices may require that they be re-started. NetPath should only be deployed to devices you plan to monitor a path from.
