MDM to DMA migration path

The following information outlines the migration path from Mobile Device Management (MDM) to Device Management for Device Management for Apple (DMA) in N-able N-central.

This information is specifically for iOS devices.

If you currently have iOS devices enrolled in N-central's Device Management for Apple, you don't need to keep the profile or the agent on the device before you migrate it to DMA.

Remove MDM agent

To remove the Mobile Device Management agent from your device:

  1. Unlock your iOS device.

  2. Locate the MDM application on your screen.

  3. Press and hold on the app icon and click Remove App.

  4. Click Delete to remove the application and any associated data.

Remove MDM enrollment profile

To remove an enrollment profile from an iOS device:

  1. On the iOS device, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management (for iOS 16+ go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management).
  2. Select your Mobile Device Management Profile.

  3. Click Remove Management or Remove Profile.

  4. Authorize the removal.
  5. Confirm removal when prompted.

Remove iOS device from N-central

To remove the iOS device from within N-central:

  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, click ViewsAll Devices.

  2. Click the Mobile Devices tab.

  3. Select the checkbox(es) next to the device(s) you wish to remove.

  4. Click Delete.

  5. Select Completely remove device from the system.

  6. Click OK.
