Mail network settings

Configure a mail relay server for N-able N-central to send email messages and notifications.

N-central uses SMTP for the mail relay server, and monitors SMTP traffic on remote hosts using a probe. If SMTP traffic is blocked, N-able recommends that you configure a mail relay server.

If you do not set up a mail relay server, N-central can still send email messages and notifications. You need to configure port 25 to allow outgoing TCP connections to remote hosts.

If the mail relay server becomes unreachable or refuses to relay mail, N-central will not be able to send notifications or reports.

N-able recommends that you configure the mail relay server only if your ISP blocks all other outgoing SMTP traffic.
