Run Automated Task On Demand

You can manually run a task near real-time on one or more devices using the N-sight RMM Dashboard.

You cannot use the Run Automated Task option for disabled Automated Tasks.

Agent Run Automated Task behavior

Windows Agent

  • Task runs in near real-time
  • Uploads the results within a few minutes of the task completing
  • Automated Tasks with an expired schedule can also be triggered with the Run Task command

Mac Agent 2.3.0 and later

  • Task runs in near real-time
  • Uploads the results within a few minutes of the task completing
  • Automated Tasks are queued on devices that are offline when the Run Task command is issued. When a device comes back online and reports back to N-sight RMM, the Run Task action is initiated.
  • Pending Tasks are stored up to 31 days and then removed if not applied

To run a task on a single device:

  1. On the N-sight RMM Dashboard North-pane, right-click the device and select Task > Run
  2. Select a task
  3. Click Next
  4. Confirm the target device and click Run Task
  5. A dialog box confirms the task will be run on the target device.

    You can also run a task by selecting a device in the North-pane and then using the Tasks tab in the South-pane.

To run a task on multiple devices:

  1. On the N-sight RMM Dashboard North-pane, multi-select the target devices (use Shift and left-click to choose a range of devices or Control and left-click for specific devices)
  2. Right-click one of the selected devices
  3. Go to Task > Run
  4. Select a task
  5. Click Next
  6. Confirm the target devices and click Run Task
  7. A dialog box confirms the task will be run on the target devices.

To run a task on devices for a Client or Site:

  1. On the N-sight RMM Dashboard Client list, right-click the target Client or Site and select Task > Run
  2. Filter tasks by either Servers, Workstations, or both
  3. Select a task
  4. Click Next
  5. Confirm the target devices and click Run Task
  6. A dialog box confirms the task will be run on the target devices.
