How to disable video hardware acceleration on remote access with Take Control (N-able)

Description

  • How to create a policy with disabled video hardware acceleration.
  • How to improve slow connections with Take Control on remote devices with certain non-accelerated graphics adapters, these include:
  • Hyper-V
  • VMware VM
  • Matrox G200eh
  • ATI ES1000
  • ATI RageXL

Environment

  • N-sight RMM
  • Take Control

Solution

  • Perform these steps below. If they do not work it may be best to use the Take Control (TeamViewer) engine
  1. Login to the All Devices view.
  2. Go to Settings>Take Control>Policy
  3. Double click a relevant policy or create a new one.
  4. Select Performance
  5. Check Disable Video hardware Acceleration while in session.
  6. Select Save.
  7. Right click impacted device
  8. Select Edit workstation/Edit Server>Remote Access
  9. Setting:On >Engine: N-able >Policy: *choose previously defined policy*
  10. Press OK
  11. Right click the intended device and hit Run Checks.
