Configuring Lost Mode

Administrators can activate Managed Lost Mode on an iOS or iPadOS device if it is lost or stolen. In Managed Lost Mode, admins have the ability to request the device's location and trigger it to play a sound.

Device Requirements
To enable or disable Lost mode:
  1. In the left-hand navigation menu, click Configuration > Device Management for Apple.

    The Devices tab displays including device name, serial number, OS version, profiles and more.

  2. Click on a device and select Lost Mode tab.

  3. Click Enable Lost Mode at the top right view and enter the lock screen message, contact information, Footnote message.

    This information cannot be changed once the Lost Mode activation session is sent, so make sure the information is correct the first time.

  4. Lost Mode is activated and displays a screen

    • Last Known Location - Displays the device's most recent location and updates automatically every 15 minutes, as long as the device remains connected to the internet.

    • Lock screen information - Displays the lock screen information shown on the device you provided.

    • Closest address - Shows the closest address that's picked by GPS.

    • GPS coordinates Click View in maps to open a larger, more interactive version of the map in a new browser window.

    • Sound mode - Click Play sound to trigger a loud sound (with vibration) on the device, which will play for approximately 2 minutes.

    • Wipe device data - All data will be deleted from the device, and device need to be unlocked.
