Path: From Active Directory to N-able Login

Active Directory authentication in N-central allows users to securely log in using their organization’s existing directory credentials and streamlines access management.

Prerequisites Checklist

  • When moving from AD to N-able Login, each user must have a valid email address to ensure successful authentication and provisioning:

    • Identity Matching: N-able Login uses the email address to link AD users with their Entra ID identities.

    • Enrollment: The system sends registration and MFA setup emails to the address in the AD profile.

    • Provisioning: Entra ID uses the email to assign roles and access during migration.

    • Login Format: N-able Login requires the login name to be a valid email address.

      • Users previously logging in with usernames such as domain\username or just username now must use their full email address, for example firstname.lastname@n-able.com.

      • This change aligns with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) requirements and ensures proper identity matching during authentication

    • Support & Recovery: A valid email enables password resets and account recovery.

  • Confirm that at least one admin user is enrolled in N-able Login.

  • Log in to N-central as an N-able Login admin user.

  • Make sure that you have unlinked AD users from their current SSO provider.
