Create an application compliance rule

Application compliance rules define how N-able N-central categorizes software applications found on discovered devices. Used in conjunction with application compliance settings and application compliance service, you can ensure a customer's devices only use the recommended or authorized software on their system, minimizing the potential of pirated software or malware that could potentially harm their network.

N-able N-central uses rules when discovering new devices. It scans the device's hard disk for software and compares the names to the configured rules and applies the configured category. If a software title does not exist in the rules, you can use the application compliance settings to classify it.

  1. Click ConfigurationMonitoring > Application Compliance Rules.
  2. Click Add Rule.
  3. Use the drop-down list boxes to define the rule's parameters.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Save when you are finished adding rules.

The rules appear in the list. You can change the order of the rule by clicking and dragging a row.

You can also Add application compliance service to a device manually.
