Launch the Take Control viewer

The Take Control viewer is available when making a remote connection to a device.

You can also use the N-able N-central for Android app for Take Control remote sessions. This app is available through Google Play.

If a device's agent is offline or not communicating with N-able N-central, the option to remote control the device using Take Control will still be available. The Take Control agent and N-able N-central agent services run independently of one another. This enables you to perform remote maintenance if needed even if the agent is not online.

When using Google Chrome v77 and later, you will not be prompted to "Always open these types of links in the associated app". Instead you will need to confirm opening Take Control each time you launch a Take Control session. This is not a limitation with Take Control, but rather the way Google Chrome has implemented its browser protocol handler.

Take Control functionality is only available for N-able N-central devices with upgraded 10.2 or higher agents.

  1. In N-able N-central, click ViewsAll Devices.
  2. Click the link for the device.
  3. Click Remote Control in the upper-right corner of the screen and select Take Control.

The Take Control viewer launches to begin a remote session. If Take Control is grayed out, the device is unavailable for remote control functionality.

You can lock a device to use Take Control viewer each time you click Remote Control. For more information, see Locking and unlocking remote control settings.
