Add a network device

 

Add customer devices to N-able N-central to begin monitoring and maintaining the devices.

There are three types of devices in N-able N-central:

  1. Network device – such as a workstation, laptop, server, router/switch, printer, scanner, or a storage device.
  2. Mobile device – such as a smartphone or tablet.
  3. Cloud service device – either an Office 365 resource or another SaaS offering.

If you do not have any devices

Under ViewsAll Devices:

  1. Click Click here to download the probe in the Install a Windows Probe to Search for Devices - Recommended section.

  2. Click Start the Installation Process and follow the steps in the subsequent pop-up window.

    OR

  1.  Click More Options and select from one of the following:
    1. Install an Agent on a Single Workstation or Server: See Installing Windows Agents.
    2. Manually Create a Device that Represents an External Website or IP Address
      • Click Add Device and complete the information as required.
  2. Follow the steps provided by the individual wizards.

If you have devices

Under ViewsAll Devices:

  1. Click Add.

  2. Import devices by clicking Add a Discovery Job (see Adding and Editing Asset Discovery Jobs).

OR

  1. Click More Options and select from one of the following:

    1. Install an Agent on a Single Workstation or Server. See Installing Windows Agents.
    2. Manually Create a Device that Represents an External Website or IP Address.
      • Click Add Device and complete the information as required.
  2. Follow the steps provided by the individual wizards.
