Invite mobile devices to be managed

To manage mobile devices, you need to invite the user to add their device, which the user then approves. Mobile devices cannot be added manually to N-able N-central or discovered by agents or probes. Inviting a mobile device to be added to N-able N-central enables you to manage a customer's smartphones or tablets. By managing mobile devices, you can, if necessary, wipe the data to prevent someone from seeing sensitive information.

Inviting and registering mobile devices requires a valid SSL certificate for the N-able N-central server and an APNS certificate.

  1. Click Configuration > Mobile Devices > Invitations.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Select the customer and enter the invitation name and description.
  4. Click Add and enter the user's email address.
  5. In Maximum Registrations per Email Address, enter the number of devices the user will register. For example, they may have an iPhone and an iPad using the same email address.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Set the Invite Expiration time to define how much time the user has to accept the invitation.
  8. Enable notification emails to the user when the mobile devices has been registered or the invitation time has expired, and who receives that message.
  9. Click Save.

N-able N-central sends an invitation email message to the user. The content of email is similar to: "You have been invited to add your mobile devices to the <xxx> network. Please click on the link to accept the invitation." The user must then accept the invitation to connect with N-able N-central.

Create multiple invitations

Add multiple invitations using a CSV file. This will save time by inserting a group of email or phone numbers in one step rather than continually clicking Add and entering the information.

  1. Click Configuration > Mobile Devices > Invitations.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Select the customer and enter the invitation name and description.
  4. Click Add from CSV.
  5. Select the CSV Add Invite Format that is used by the original data.
  6. Copy the original data from the source file.
  7. Paste the CSV formatted values into the text box.
  8. Click Sample CSV to view an example structure of the .CSV file.

  9. Click Add Invites.
  10. Set the Invite Expiration time to define how much time the user has to accept the invitation.
  11. Enable notification emails to the user when the mobile devices has been registered or the invitation time has expired, and who receives that message.
  12. Click Save.

N-able N-central sends an invitation email message to the list of users. The users must then accept the invitation to connect with N-able N-central.
