Description
- Sometimes customer probe runs out disk space and they would like to know what are the options and what can be done.
Environment
- N-able N-central
Solution
- Add a new disk on the server and change probe location on the new server.
- stop probe services (Services.msc -> Windows Software Probe Service and Windows Software Probe Maintenance Service, N-Able Patch Repository Service)
- copy the whole cache directory into new location and start services. (Windows Software Probe Maintenance Service, Windows Probe Service and N-able Patch Repository Service).
- Create a new probe on the site and enable patch caching on it and disable on the existing server. Copy patch files from one server to the other server by keeping directory structure same. Ensure that two of the probe services are in stopped state while you are copying.
- Create a new probe and transfer all probe functionality to the new one and decommission the probe services on the old one. You can copy old probe cache into the new a server just like the other two options and keep working on the new one. To transfer probe functionality please select the old probe under customer level select Administration -> Probes and select old probe you will see that transfer probe button lid and click it and by following wizard select the new probe. This will transfer all probe functionality into the new one and after you can remove probe from the old one.
