How to clean re-install the Take Control agent on N-able N-central

Description
- How to remove and re-install the Take Control agent on a remote device.
Environment
- N-able N-central
- Take Control
Solution
Use the N-able N-central UI to uninstall and re-install:
These steps can only be performed at the SO or Customer level.
- Select the desired device.
- Go to Remote Control Settings > General.
- Uncheck the option Install Take Control.
- Click SAVE.
- Click ADD TASK> Update Asset Info.
- Wait a few moments so the uninstall command takes action on the remote end.
- This can vary from 2 minutes to 15 minutes depending on the remote environment.
- Go to Remote Control Settings > General.
- Check Install Take Control.
- Click SAVE.
- Click ADD TASK > Update Asset Info and wait for a few minutes (as in step 6).
If the issue is not resolved, follow the steps below:
- Select the desired device.
- Go to Remote Control Settings > General.
- Uncheck the option Install Take Control.
- Wait a few moments so the uninstall command takes action on the remote end.
- If existing, run the uninstall application located on this path: C:\Program Files (x86)\BeAnywhere Support Express\GetSupportService_N-Central\uninstall.exe:
- You can run this file remotely & silently using the Command Line option from the Tools > Command Prompt in N-able N-central by running the commands:
- 64-bit systems:
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\BeAnywhere Support Express\GetSupportService_N-Central"
C:\Program Files (x86)\BeAnywhere Support Express\GetSupportService_N-Central> uninstall.exe /S
- 32-bit systems:
- cd "C:\Program Files\BeAnywhere Support Express\GetSupportService_N-Central"
- C:\Program Files\BeAnywhere Support Express\GetSupportService_N-Central> uninstall.exe /S
- 64-bit systems:
- You can run this file remotely & silently using the Command Line option from the Tools > Command Prompt in N-able N-central by running the commands:
- If existing, delete the ProgramData folder and the BA Agent folder respectively:
- C:\ProgramData\GetSupportService_N-Central
- C:\Program Files (x86)\BeAnywhere Support Express\GetSupportService_N-Central
- Go to Remote Control Settings > General.
- Check Install Take Control.
- Click SAVE.
- Click ADD TASK > Update Asset Info.
- Wait until the installation completes.
