Take Control (Standalone): Grant Permissions to a Technician to access a group of computers

Description
- Allowing a Technician to access a specific group of computers in their Take Control Tech Console and Admin Area webpage.
Environment
- N-able Take Control/Take Control Plus (Standalone)
Solution
- By Technician:
- Login to the Admin Area;
- Please note that you will need sufficient permissions to access the admin area, if you are not an admin - please reach out to one of the account's administrator.
- Click on Management > Technicians.
- Locate the technician in the list to whom you want to grant computer access and make a note of their Permissions Group, which is listed in the column next to the technician's name.
- Navigate to the Permissions Groups tab, select the Permissions Group from the list and click Edit Group from the options in the right window containing Permissions Group Details.
- Under the My Computers Management section, select Allow members to access Devices.
- Click on Select Groups and select all groups you want to allow the technician to access.
- Note that the technician will always have access to the Root group and, consequentially, any Agents within it.
- Click OK and then click Save to save the permissions group.
- The Technician must log in to the Console to pick up the new settings.
You can not edit a default Permissions Group. If the technician requiring additional permissions has a default permissions group applied, you must create a new permissions group where you can grant or deny specific permissions as needed.
- By Agent Group:
- Login to the Admin Area.
- Navigate to Devices.
- Edit the intended group by clicking the vertical ellipsis symbol next to the group and selecting Edit.
- Under the Permissions section, click the Permissions groups drop-down to choose which permissions groups can access the target device group.
- Save when done.
- Note that the technician needs to have sufficient permissions to access the My Computers tab.
- The Technician must log in to the Console to pick up the new settings.
