Load Balancer Configuration
If you prefer to use a physical load balancer to distribute your traffic over the SpamExperts Local Cloud nodes (outgoing or incoming traffic), you should ensure the load balancer transparently forwards the real IP address at network level.
We recommend load balancing via DNS records. The A records for the MX for inbound traffic can be assigned multiple host addresses and the outbound relay hostname A record can be assigned to multiple outbound servers.
The most common setup for load balancing consists of:
- A hardware load balancer communicating with the SpamExperts nodes via an internal-IP address
- The SpamExperts nodes use the load balancer as gateway for the internal traffic which handles the communication back to the source
Installation and integration of a hardware load balancer is specific to the make and model.
