Cove Data Protection (Cove)
The Cove Backup Check uses the logs on the local Mac device to determine the status of any backups that have completed in the preceding 24-hour period.
The Backup Check passes if the specified number of "Success" or "Complete with exceptions/cancelled" (where "Show 'complete with exceptions' as successful (includes canceled jobs)" is configured) messages are discovered.
Backup Column and Summary tab
Cove is based on Backup and Recovery technology. Like Backup and Recovery, the Cove Backup Check is recorded as feature associated when automatically added, rather than as a non-feature associated "monitoring" Backup Check.
When Cove is detected during an Agent installation, we automatically add the Cove Backup Check.
For visibility Cove installation is indicated in the Backup and Recovery column of the All Devices view North-pane. Hover over the status icon to see if the device has Cove or Backup and Recovery installed.
The South-pane Summary tab also reports the Cove status.
Opt-out of automatic Backup Checks
You can opt-out of the option to automatically add a Backup Check to devices that have Cove installed. After you opt-out, a Backup Check is not added to any newly discovered devices running Cove. Opting out does not affect any devices that already have a Cove Backup Check.
-
Go to Settings > General Settings > Checks

Tick "Opt out of auto creation of Cove backup checks"

Since the Backup Checks poll the device for the backup results, the results in N-sight RMM are those reported by the Backup software being monitored. If the reported result is Completed with Errors, Completed with Warnings, or a similar response, we recommend you investigate the device the problem and ensure the Backup software can backup the expected data sets.
