Mail Assure Quick Start Help

This Quick Start Guide describes how to get up and running quickly with the Mail Assure application.

This is not an all inclusive guide to the Mail Assure product and so does not cover some additional features. For full information on the product, please see the full documentation.

For a list of all access and information required before getting started with Mail Assure, please check our Getting Started Requirements page.

Please see the pages below to complete setup of Mail Assure. Ensure these steps are completed in this given order which will stop any conflicts.

Check the Getting Started Requirements to be sure you have the relevant information and access to hand before beginning.

Accessing Mail Assure

Logging in to Mail Assure - Ensure you can successfully log in and have familiarised yourself with the Control Panel levels, User Types and Permissions, Timeout Settings and Supported Web Browsers. Complete

Branding Management

Branding Management - Choose the branding to be used for the dashboard, including colours, custom hostnames, logos and email headers (Optional). Complete Skipped

Set up your Domain

Add a Domain - Start by adding one domain at a time. Complete

Add Domains and Mailboxes via Microsoft 365 sync - Start by adding one domain at a time. Complete

Check your New Domain can Communicate with the Mail Server - Make sure your new domain can communicate with the Mail Server before progressing. Complete

Getting Started with Incoming Filtering (if using)

Firewall Settings - Before beginning with any other Incoming Filtering setup, ensure the Firewall settings are configured correctly to accept our IP addresses. Complete

Configuration Tab - Mailboxes Configuration at Admin and Domain level should be set before adding Mailboxes and Mailbox Aliases. Complete

Mailboxes Tab - Add Mailboxes one at a time or in bulk and configure these for filtering, archiving and further setup. Complete

Mailboxes Alias Tab - You may add Mailbox Aliases for the Primary mailboxes that have been added to the Mailboxes Tab here. Complete

Configure Domain Settings - Setup the Domain Specific settings such as the email address used for sending email notifications, the timezone and enabling daily Email Scout Reports. Complete

Get Started Adding Control Panel Users - Add additional Admin users, Domain Users and Email Users. In here you can also assign domains to the control of Admin users. Complete

MX Records - Update the MX records to contain the Mail Assure details. Complete

The MX records should always be changed last for incoming mail filtering. Do not change the MX records before completing the other Incoming Filtering setup steps.

Getting Started with Outgoing Filtering (if using)

Create the Outgoing User - To use any outgoing filtering, you first need to create an outgoing user. Complete

Configure the Abuse Report Address - Add an Administrator contact address who will receive a notification when a spam message is sent from your network (Optional). Complete Skipped

Set up SPF - Configure your SPF (Sender Policy Framework) to restrict which mail servers are allowed to send email for your domain name. Complete

Set up DMARC - Set up a DMARC record in the domain's DNS (Optional). Complete Skipped

Set up DKIM - Set up a DKIM signature for sent messages from the domain/s (Optional). Complete Skipped

Outbound Filtering Hostnames - Ensure your SMTP Hostname is configured correctly, using the appropriate ports and connection limits. Complete

The Transport Rule should always be configured last for outgoing mail filtering. Do not create the transport rule before completing the other Outgoing Filtering setup steps.

Getting Started with Archiving (if using)

Getting Started with Archiving - Enable archiving on the domain. Complete

Manage Archive Settings - View and edit archive settings per domain. Complete

Restrict Archiving to Specific Mailboxes - Configure restrictions to stop specific mailboxes from archiving (Optional). Complete Skipped
