6 or 7 fields?
Quartz accepts both forms. The only difference is the optional year field at the end. If you leave it off, Quartz treats it as * (every year), so 0 0 9 ? * MON-FRI and 0 0 9 ? * MON-FRI * do the same thing. Use the year only to limit a schedule to particular years, such as 2026-2030. Some tools built on Quartz accept only six fields, so use the Expression format setting to match what your system expects. Standard Unix cron is different again: it has five fields and no seconds.
This generator always sets seconds to 0, so schedules run at the start of the minute.
Day-of-week numbering starts with Sunday. Sunday = 1, Monday = 2 and Saturday = 7, unlike Unix cron where Sunday is 0. Tip: using names such as MON avoids confusion.
Quartz requires either day of month or day of week to use ?. Don't combine L, W or # with lists or ranges, as Quartz's behaviour is unreliable.
Days 29-31 don't exist in every month. Quartz skips any month that doesn't contain the selected day.
