Restore Microsoft 365 SharePoint Data

Before you begin restoring Microsoft 365 SharePoint data, ensure you have met the necessary requirements:

Requirements

The following account types are required:

  • A user account for the Management Console at the following user level:
    • SuperUser
    • Administrator
    • Manager
    • Operator
  • The Security Officer role assigned to the above user account
  • A Global administrator account for Microsoft 365

Instructions

  1. Log in to the Management Console as a user with Security Officer permissions
  2. Open the action menu for the domain and click Restore SharePoint

  3. Connect to the Microsoft 365 SharePoint account with administrative account credentials

    4. If you do not see the authentication page, make sure your browser is not blocking pop-up windows.

  4. Accept the required permissions

  5. You will receive a confirmation that the connection has been successful for the restore

  6. Select the site you wish to restore from.

    You will see the list of backed up sites, the backup status of the site, number of Sub-sites and number of files.

  7. In the Backup Session bar, select the date, time of the backup session to restore from
  8. In the Select Items section, select the backup data to restore

  9. Select the Restore Location for the items you are recovering:
    • Original

      Deleted SharePoint sites cannot be restored to the Original location. Restoring to the original location is available only for SharePoint Sites with an Active Site Status.

      When restoring to the Original location, you can set the following additional settings:

    • Custom

      Restoring to a custom location is available for SharePoint Sites with an Active or Deleted Site Status

      Select a custom location for the recovered data to be stored.

    The Site Status can be found above the Backup Session bar.

  10. Click Next
  11. Confirm your intention to start the recovery by selecting Restore

  12. Close the wizard by clicking Finish

    13. We cannot restore a SharePoint site collection. In cases where site collection has been deleted, you will need to recreate this manually.
