Assign licenses

Assign licenses to multiple users from the Product Licenses page or go to the Users page to assign a license to a single user.

Requirements

  • You must be assigned the License Administrators role or be a customer assigned delegated license administration.

Assign licenses to users from the Product Licenses page

  1. On the left navigation, select Licenses > Product Licenses.
  2. If not already selected, use the global customer selector - Customers drop-down menu to select the customers where you want to assign licenses.
  3. Filter or search to find the product license you want to assign and click in the row to select and highlight it.

  4. Select Assign licenses. The Assign licenses option only displays for a highlighted row if there are licenses not in use. See the Not in use column.

    You cannot assign Windows 365 Frontline licenses to users. Windows 365 Frontline licenses are assigned to the tenant and not to users.

  5. Select the checkboxes for the users you want to assign the license to and select Next. You can assign a maximum of 10 users at a time.

  6. Use the checkboxes to configure the services you want to enable for the license and select Next.
  7. Review your selections. If you need to make changes, select Back. Otherwise, select Confirm.

    8. When complete, the user assignments display for the product license. You may need to refresh the page to see the updates.

Assign a license for a single user from the Users page

  1. On the left navigation, select Identity > Users.
  2. If not already selected, use the global customer selector - Customers drop-down menu to select the customers from where you want to select users.

    If the user list is empty or you can't find a specific user, select Refresh to show the most recent data.

  3. Filter or search to find the user you need and select the Name of the user to view the details.

  4. On the Licenses tab, select Assign license.

  5. Select the license you want to assign and select Next.
  6. Select the checkboxes for the services you want to configure and select Next.

  7. Review your selections. If you need to make changes, select Back. Otherwise, select Confirm.

    8. When complete, the new license displays for the user.
