Pre-backup settings for macOS

If you wish to back up a local network resource on a macOS computer, you need to permanently connect it to your desktop. This is done just once. After that you will be able to add the network resource to your backup selection in Backup Manager and create a backup schedule for it.

1. In Backup Manager, open the Backup tab.
2. Click Edit next to the Files and Folders data source.
3. Expand the file tree and find the mapped network resource in the "Volumes" directory.

How to map network resource

Here is a sample instruction for version 10.9 Mavericks.

1. Open the Finder. From the menu bar, choose Go > Connect to server.
2. Open the address of the network resource you want to map (for example smb://192.168.0.55/share). Please see this Apple instruction for supported network address formats. Click Connect.
3. Enter your access credentials for the network resource.
4. From the Apple menu, choose System preferences. Click Users & Groups > Login items > Add an item.
5. Locate the network drive you have mounted (you will find it under "Shared" in Sidebar). Click Add.
6. Close System Preferences.
