Backup Network Shares - Windows

To configure Backup for Network Shares

  1. First you need to Configure backup selection selecting the Network Shares data source.
  2. Click Add on the popup
  3. Provide the following information:
    • Path - Network share location, a full network path to the root folder of the network share or to a particular directory.
    • Domain - Domain name, if the computer belongs to a Windows network domain, you need to specify that domain (for example, COMPANY.COM). If there is no domain, you can leave the field blank in most cases. On some networks, however, you will need to enter the host name of the target machine (for example, WORKSTATION-PC).
    • User - User account credentials, in most cases you need an account that has "read" permissions to the directories intended for backup (it will be necessary to scan the file tree and get file content).
    • Password - User account credentials, in most cases you need an account that has "read" permissions to the directories intended for backup (it will be necessary to scan the file tree and get file content).
  4. Once added, click save
  5. The path will now show and you may make a selection of any specific files or folders within the location. Once selected, click save

Once you have configured the backup selection to include Network Shares, you also need to include it in the Backup Schedule. This can be done by following the steps on how to Configure schedule-based backups.
