Description
- Can't connect to the file share because it's not secure. This share requires the obsolete SMB1 protocol, which is unsafe and could expose the system to attack. The system requires SMB2 or higher. For more info on resolving this issue, see: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=852747.
Environment
- N-able Backup
- N-able RMM
- N-able Backup and Recovery
- N-able N-central
- N-able MSP Backup
Solution
- This particular error is an environmental issue with Microsoft due to the deprecation of the Server Message Block (SMB) version 1; it's no longer installed by default as it's been superseded by version 2.
- To resolve the issue, review the following article from Microsoft's support site, in order to ensure that the problem File Share can support SMBv2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4034314/smbv1-is-not-installed-by-default-in-windows .
