Solution
- Devices in Console or Cloud Management Console cannot be renamed
- Renaming device is impossible because combination of device name and installation key is used to obtain token for cloud authentication
- Token is a part of path within storage nodes and data is strictly attached to path
- Though it is not possible to change the device name, Computer Names can be changed. In this case:
- Add the Computer Name column to the view using Columns to Display
- Save the view
- On the device, open Settings
- Find About
- Rename the PC to something you can easily recognize
- Save the name change
The change of the computer name will display in the Computer name column in the Console
- If a change of the device name is absolutely necessary, a new device needs to be created manually in the Console with the desired name. The old device should not be deleted until you have a satisfactory number of restore points (backup history) on the new backup device
This additional device will be charged separately so as long as you have both devices on your dashboard you will be charged for each.
