Install and configure server software
Windows Server must be configured before SQL Server. Typically, you will first configure or update IIS when you set up Windows Server, and then install or configure the .NET Framework.

- Install and configure Microsoft Windows Server:
- Review the Windows Server settings that are required for Report Manager, and update those settings if needed.
- Install Windows Server 2012 or 2016.
- Install and configure IIS.
Do not remove the default website. The default website is needed to successfully install or upgrade Report Manager.
- Upgrade, or install and configure Microsoft SQL Server:
- Review the SQL Server settings that are required for Report Manager, and update those settings if needed.
- If you already have SQL Server, check that you have the correct version.
