Capacity Planning Report

Configure N-able N-central Dependencies prior to running any reports.

The Capacity Planning report provides an overview of devices within your customer’s network that are approaching, or over, their utilization limit.

Use this report to:

  • Show devices that will soon be exceeding their limit.
  • Justify necessary, potentially costly, hardware upgrades.
  • Help your customers plan and budget for future hardware upgrades.

This report is multi-customer enabled. To select multiple customers, press and hold down the Ctrl key, and then click each customer that you want to select.

If you select the option Include Time Based SLA Breakdowns, you can compare availability over specific time periods.

In order to report on the full day, the Start Time must be set to '00:00:00' and End Time must be set to '24:00:00'.

The generated report has the following sections:

  • Capacity Planning
  • Utilization (if you select the option Include Details)

Capacity Planning is a table displaying devices' utilization of CPU, Disk, and Physical and Virtual Memory services. The table also provides the device class and URI.

To show Utilization by each device over time, select Include Details. This will include a line graph charting percentage utilization of each device over the specified time period, and a table that details the following capacities for each device:

  • Highest daily average
  • Lowest daily average
  • Standard deviation
  • Average
  • Time over capacity
    • The utilization percentage will be displayed in red when device utilization exceeds the limit.
    • The utilization percentage will be displayed in orange if you select to Highlight Devices Near the Limit when setting up the report.

Only devices approaching or exceeding the utilization threshold (with red or orange values in the Capacity Planning section) will appear in the details section of the report.

If you have multiple CPUs, the report will aggregate the value for all CPUs. If you have multiple disks, you will see the utilization data for each disk.
