SSH service

N-able N-central monitors the availability of a SSH daemon on a network device. SSH is a shell program for logging into and executing commands on a remote computer. It provides strong authentication and secure communications over a vulnerable connection. It also provides a UNIX shell augmented with a range of cryptographic options.

N-able N-central determines the up or down status of the SSH service. The SSH service does not use the Warning state. N-able N-central averages the availability of the SSH service over the scan interval. It compares the availability of the SSH service to the threshold to determine the status.

Status details

Status DetailDescription
SSH Service AvailabilityN-able N-central determines whether the SSH service is up or down. The SSH service does not use the Warning state. N-able N-central averages the availability of the SSH service over the scan interval and compares the availability of the SSH service to the threshold to determine the status.
Round Trip Time (ms)The time for a request to be sent and received.
DNS Resolution

The threshold that determines whether the device name can be resolved.

If an FQDN has been specified, the service searches for its IP address. If the IP address is found, the state will be Normal. Otherwise, it will be Failed, based on the default settings.

If an IP address has been specified, the service checks only the IP address's format. If the format is correct, the state will be Normal. Otherwise, it will be Failed, based on the default settings.
