ShadowProtect service

The ShadowProtect service monitors StorageCraft's ShadowProtect backup software for version 5.1 and higher.

The service monitors the following information about ShadowProtect backup jobs:

  • Job Status
  • Elapsed Run Time
  • Remaining Run Time
  • Throughput

You must verify that all of your ShadowProtect backup jobs have a Job Name. N-able N-central cannot monitor StorageCraft ShadowProtect backup jobs if they do not have unique identifying names.

Scanning schedule

Based on your requirements for monitoring ShadowProtect backup jobs, select either Once a Day or Daily Interval.

  • If you selected Once a Day, configure the following:
    • Time - when to scan the ShadowProtect backup jobs.
    • Repeat Weekly on Days - the days of the week when the service scans the backup jobs.
    • Repeat Monthly on Days - the numeric dates of the month when the service scans the backup jobs.
  • If you selected Daily Interval, configure the following:
    • Start Hour and End Hour - the period when to scan the ShadowProtect backup jobs.
    • Scan Interval in Minutes - the time in minutes between each scan.
    • Repeat Weekly on Days - the days of the week when the service scans the backup jobs.

 

Status DetailDescription
Job Status

The numeric value indicating the status of the most recent ShadowProtect backup job as:

  • 0 = Normal
  • 1 = Warning
  • 2 = Failed
Job Status Description

A brief description indicating the status of the most recent ShadowProtect backup job. These are mapped to the Job Status values as:

  • Normal = 3, 4, 9, and 10
  • Warning = 1, 2, 5, 6, 11, 12 and 13
  • Failed = 7 and 8

The description values are mapped as:

  1. Initialized, but not saved or executed.
  2. Initialized. Created, saved, and ready to execute.
  3. Queued, scheduled, and waiting to be executed.
  4. Running.
  5. Aborting. Canceled but is still running.
  6. Aborted, canceled, and has finished processing.
  7. Failed. Executed, but failed, and will not run next time
  8. Failed. Queued, executed, failed, but will run next time
  9. Completed. Executed and finished successfully.
  10. Completed. Queue executed, finished successfully, and will run next time.
  11. Deleted. Deleted, but has external locks.
  12. Expired.
  13. Disabled.
Elapsed Run Time (sec)The amount of time that it took to complete the most recent ShadowProtect backup job.
Remaining Run Time (sec)The amount of time that remains for the most recent ShadowProtect backup job to be completed.
Throughput (KBytes/Second)The average speed data was transmitted during the most recent ShadowProtect backup job.
Job Start TimeThe time when the most recent ShadowProtect backup job started.
Last Backup Activity DateThe date and time when the most recent ShadowProtect backup activity took place.
Last Script Execution DateThe date and time when the ShadowProtect.vbs script was run most recently.
