Install & reinstall on demand

When using Patch Management, there may be cases which require an installation or reinstall of PME. PME Install and Reinstall enables you to decide when to upgrade, downgrade or reinstall Patch Management on a select device.

To access this feature:

Click All Devices.
Select the device(s) you wish to target.
Click Add Task > Patch Management > PME Install/Reinstall.

Use Case: Testing RC builds

When wanting to upgrade to a Release Candidate (RC) build, the PME Install/Reinstall option can be used to test out the RC version on one or more devices before committing the upgrade to all devices. If you encounter any errors or come across any problems, you can use the PME Install/Reinstall option to downgrade to GA.

To test an RC build:

Ensure that the relevant profile options are aligned with the selection from this task. If the profile is set to GA, this will affect the outcome.

From the left-hand navigation menu, click All Devices.
Select the device(s) by checking their checkboxes.
From the top options, click Add Task > Patch Management > PME Install/Reinstall.
In the Maintenance Window, next to Target version of PME to install, select Release Candidate (RC).
Next to Schedule Type, select when to run the task.
Click Save.

Use Case: Encountering problems with GA Patch Management

Occasionally, your current GA Patch Management version may not be working as expected. In this case, you can use the PME Install/Reinstall option to reinstall Patch Management's GA version.

To reinstall a PME build:

Ensure that the relevant profile options are aligned with the selection from this task.

From the left-hand navigation menu, click All Devices.
Select the device(s) by checking their checkboxes.
From the top options, click Add Task > Patch Management > PME Install/Reinstall.
In the Maintenance Window, next to Target version of PME to install, select the version you wish to reinstall.
Next to Schedule Type, select when to run the task.
Click Save.
