Log in and use an on premises N-able N-central for the first time

You can log in to the UI before activating N-able N-central for a 30-day trial period. For more information on activation, see Activating your N-able N-central server.

During the trial period, the N-able N-central user interface will not display the RSS feed or the What's New list. These features are available once you have activated N-able N-central.

  1. Access the N-able N-central user interface by entering the server URL into your Web browser.
  2. Log in using the following credentials:
    • Email: productadmin@n-able.com
    • Password: ManageAllTheThings0!

    The following security warning may appear: Your N-central server does not have a valid SSL certificate!. If this warning appears, and you want to properly secure your N-able N-central server, you must purchase a valid, signed SSL certificate and upload it to your N-able N-central server. SSL certificates can be obtained from security vendors such as RapidSSL, Verisign and Entrust.

  3. Enter and confirm a New Password.

    4. The password must be at least eight characters and contain ALL of the following:

    • at least one number
    • at least one uppercase character
    • at least one lowercase character
    • at least one special character

  4. Enter your Company Name and your Activation ID.
  5. If a new server installation, update the FQDN field under N-able N-central Server.
  6. Complete the email information.

    7. The default setting for the mail relay server is the N-able N-central (localhost.localdomain) but you may wish to modify this to conform to your own firewall and mail server configurations. If you modify the mail relay server address, it must be in the format of a valid IP address or a resolvable fully qualified domain name (FQDN).

  7. Click Save and Continue.
  8. The Getting Started Wizard appears. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

    9. Do not select Inherit Credentials from Service Organization.

    If there is no domain, an administrative set of credentials is required. If no common set of credentials are available, tasks will default to LocalSystem credentials. These credentials are not used for deployment of agents.

When you have completed the steps with the Getting Started Wizard, you can being using N-able N-central.
