Monitoring options
A number of specific monitoring features can be configured for devices.
External Data Feed setting
EDF Enabled |
Select to monitor external data feed (EDF) custom services on the device. Before you can monitor EDF services on the device, the EDF services must be imported and enabled on your system. For more information, contact your administrator. |
SNMP Settings
Use SNMP |
Select to monitor SNMP services on the device. Selecting a Professional Mode license for a device enables all features associated with Professional Mode, and consume one Professional Mode license. When Professional Mode devices are imported into N-able N-central and SNMP is successfully discovered on the device, SNMP will be enabled automatically. Before you can monitor the Ethernet Errors, Frame Relay, or Traffic services on the device, you must discover the interfaces on the device. For more information, see Configuring SNMP on a device. |
SNMP Version |
Select the version of SNMPto use to communicate with the device. As Windows does not currently support SNMP v3, that version of SNMP is not supported on Windows devices managed in N-able N-central. |
Port | Enter the port number to used. |
Community String | Enter the community string to be used to verify SNMP queries. |
Timeout | Enter the period that will be permitted before considering the connection to have failed. This value must be between 1 and 65535. |
Number of Retries | Enter the maximum number of times that SNMP queries will be attempted. This field must contain a value between 1 and 10. |
Backup Exec settings
You can only monitor backup services on Windows devices.
Before you can monitor the backup software, you must discover the backup jobs and their schedules on the device. You must save any changes made to the properties of a device before performing a backup discovery.
Backup Exec Enabled | Select to monitor the status of backups that have been performed by Symantec Backup Exec. |
Backup Exec User Name | The name of the user account required to access the Backup Exec database. |
Backup Exec Password | The password required to access the Backup Exec database. |
Database Instance | The type and name of the Backup Exec database. |
Asigra settings
Asigra Enabled | Select to monitor either Asigra backup sets on a device. |
Asigra User Name | The name of the user account required to access the DS-Client APIs. |
Asigra Password | The password required to access the DS-Client APIs. |
Port | The port number used to connect to the DS-Client APIs. |
