Server reactivations
Copy protection methods built into N-able N-central may cause your server to need to be reactivated frequently. This article will help you pinpoint why the reactivation is needed and how to minimize the number of reactivations needed
Server unlicensing
A server will become unlicensed by design if the server is moved, restored, or hardware is changed. This is by design (copy protection).
Common reasons why a server may become unlicensed:
- Mac address change, dynamic mac (Hyper-v), vMotion/dynamic hosting (VMWare)
- System UUID has changed (new hardware/vm)
- Snapshot restore
- Change to network hardware settings
- Performing a restore
- License length expired.
- For new partners: If you have only used the Temporary license key received in email, you will need to OPEN ports 22,80,443 & 10000 inbound to N-able N-central , then, contact us with your public IP/FQDN for a permanent license.
- Server powered off for a period of time
- Product upgrade
Less common reasons:
- corruption in the file system
Set the MAC address to static in our supported hosting environments:
- VMWare
- Hyper-V
