Obtain a Help Desk Manager API key


Effective March 2, 2026, the integrated Help Desk Manager component, currently offered as an optional add-on for N-central, will be retired in accordance with N-able’s End of Support policy. After this date, Help Desk Manager will be removed from N-central and will no longer function. For further information refer to our End-of-Life Notification article.

To configure N-able N-central so that it can be integrated with Help Desk Manager, you need to obtain the API key from Help Desk Manager. The API key allows the two applications to share data.

The API Key will only be displayed for the HDM Admin account and will not be displayed for any other HDM Tech accounts.

  1. Log in to the Help Desk Manager web client as the Admin account.
  2. In the toolbar, click Setup.
  3. Click Techs > My Account.
  4. If the API key has not already been generated, click the Pencil icon on the account.
  5. Next to API Key, click Generate.
  6. Copy the API Key.
  7. Click Save.

In N-able N-central, click Administration > PSA Integration > Configure PSA Integration to add the key. For more information, see Configure N-able N-central to communicate with Help Desk Manager.
