Test host connectivity

Testing a host's connectivity enables you to verify your network connection to a host. You must specify the IP address or FQDN. N-able N-central runs a PING, Dig DNS check, and Traceroute and returns a log of the test results.

This feature is only available at the system or product administrator level.

  1. On the Administrator Console in the Tools area, click Test Host Connectivity.
  2. Enter the IP address/FQDN of the host.
  3. Click Test.

N-able N-central tests the specified connection and the Test Host Connectivity Results screen appears and displays the results of the PING, Dig, and Traceroute.

The record type returned by the DNS check depends on whether a FQDN or IP address was specified. A record is returned for FQDNs and a PTR for IP addresses.
