Set the service log configuration

Specify whether log services are interval or event based. By default, these services are interval based.

An interval based service is updated at each scan and remains in that state until the next scan. An event based service is updated when an event occurs, but then immediately changes back to its default state. For example, if the keyword Error is found for an interval based service, the state changes to Failed and remains in this state until the next scan. With an event based service, the state changes to Failed but immediately changes back to its default state.

The state activity of an interval based service is displayed on the status dashboard where the service is displayed. The state activity of an event based service is provided in the notification email sent upon a state change or in a Detailed Status report on the service.

This feature is only available at the system or product administrator level.

  1. On the Administrator Console in the Services area, click Log Service Configuration.
  2. Locate the service in the Interval Based list box and click the > button to move it to the Event Based list box.
  3. Click Save.

The change appears in the status dashboard for the service and N-able N-central sends a notification email when the state of the service changes.
