Add a drop-down list custom property for a device

Create a drop-down list custom property to store values selected from a predefined list, including maintenance windows, classifications, or operational states for use in filters, rules, or automation.

Drop-down lists help ensure consistent values and reduce errors caused by manual entry.

  1. In the left navigation menu, go to Administration > Custom Properties.

  2. Select Add > By Devices > Dropdown Type.

  3. Enter a descriptive Property Name.
  4. Select Add, then enter the first value.
  5. Repeat this step for each value you want to include.
  6. Toggle the Default switch next to your chosen default value.
  7. Select an Operating Systems and Device Classes the property should apply to.
  8. Select Save.

The custom property is applied to devices based on the selected Operating Systems and Device Classes. You can update the value for individual devices as needed.
