Add a firewall rule to allow network printing

When using the Security Manager firewall module, users may have difficulty printing to a network printer. If this is the case, create a firewall rule to allow print data to pass through the firewall to the printer.

If you have already configured a firewall rule for network printing, make sure that the permission is set to Allow.

Configure the application rule:

  1. Go to Configuration > Security ManagerProfiles and select the firewall profile.
  2. Click View Settings for the Firewall module, then click Rules.
  3. Click AddApplication Rule.
  4. Enter the name for the printer application rule.
  5. In the Application Path, select Specific paths from the drop-down menu and enter C:\Windows\System\spoolsv.exe.
  6. Set the Local Address and Remote Address to Any.
  7. Set the Protocol to 6 - TCP.
  8. Set the Permission to Allow.
  9. Click Save.

Configure the connection rule:

  1. Click AddConnection Rule.
  2. Enter a name for the connection rule.
  3. Select the Local Address to Any.
  4. Set the Protocol to 6 - TCP, Direction to Both and IP Version to Any.
  5. Set the Permission to Allow.
  6. Click Save.
