Description

• The Windows Update Agent must be functioning correctly for Patch Management with N-able N-central to work properly.
• This article provides a few links to troubleshooting techniques provided by Microsoft.

Environment

• N-able N-central
• Patch Management enabled

Solution

• Since our Windows Agent sends requests for patch availability and patch installations directly to the Windows Update executable within Windows, if the Windows Update Agent isn't functioning properly, this will affect Patch Management.
• This will mainly be seen via failed or misconfigured Patch services.
• If you are experiencing this, first, make sure the Windows Update Agent is running the newest available version for your Operating System.
• Then, we recommend working with Microsoft to resolve any remaining problems with the Windows Update agent.
