  • When initiating an RDP remote session on a device, it downloads a JNLP file and does not automatically run

  • N-able N-central

Solution

  • When performing this type of remote session, your device downloads a JNLP (Java Network Launching Protocol) file.
  • This is what is used to initiate the remote session from your device to the remote machine
  • If you are experiencing issues with the JNLP, please reinstall Java on your device
  • If you would like to have the browser to automatically launch the RDP remote session, by automatically opening the JNLP file, please see the example below for Chrome:
