Description

  • This article will show you how to use VMwareclient.exe to test if the probe can connect to CIM port. This is useful when troubleshooting ESXi misconfigured issues.

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

  • ESXi normally is being monitored by probe. Typical scenario is they discover the ESXi and applied a template but it is not applying and getting misconfigured.
  • From this point you, need to make sure that the probe can connect to ESXi CIM port before troubleshooting the issue.
  • Login to the Probe device directly:
  1. Launch 'C:\Program Files (x86)\N-able Technologies\Windows Software Probe\bin\VmWareClient.exe'.
  2. Under tasks, choose 'CIM', then choose CIM tasks. For example, memory, connectivity etc.
  3. Enter the 'Server Name, Username and Password'.
  4. Click 'Go'.
  • If you cannot connect using vmwareclient.exe, the probe will definitely error out - you will need to resolve this.
