Take Control (N-able N-central): Viewer Re-Installation

Description

  • Having issues with the Take Control Viewer not loading or a popup stating that the Viewer is not installed.
  • Unable to establish Take Control sessions to all remote devices.

Solution

  1. Uninstall the current Take Control Viewer installed on your local device.
    1. On your Windows device, go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    2. Select Take Control Viewer for N-able N-central > Click Uninstall.
  2. If it still exists, delete the folder C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Local\Take Control for N-able N-central.
  3. Reboot the device (not mandatory).
  4. Login to your N-able N-central UI and navigate to the intended device.
  5. Click on the Remote Control button and select Take Control.
  6. A pop up window to download the Take Control Viewer app will appear showing 3 steps on how to install the Viewer.
  7. Click on the Take Control Viewer link to download the Viewer installer (Step 1).
  8. Run the Viewer installer executable (Step 2).
  9. Click on the Launch Take Control button (Step 3).
