Rule did not apply Service Template to all applicable devices

Description

  • Rule did not apply the 'Service Template' to all applicable devices
  • 'Service Template' is only set to target one device class
  • For example, only one Service Template is selected which is for 'Workstations - Windows', and not applying to 'Laptop - Windows'

Environment

Solution

  • The reason for the Service Template not applying is because of the different device classes
  • In a particular rule, if a Service Template is only to target 'Workstation - Windows' this will not target devices with another class i.e.'Laptop - Windows'
  • To resolve this, please create a new Service Template and apply it to the rule, which can be done by doing the following:
    1. Select Configuration > Monitoring > Service Templates
    2. Select Add
    3. Reproduce this using with the same configurations from the previous Service Template
    4. Select Save
    5. Select Configuration > Monitoring > Rules
    6. Select the Rule in question
    7. Select Monitoring Options
    8. Select the Service Template created from step 3
    9. Select Save
