Description

  • Rules allow you to automate the process of setting up customers by automatically configuring new customers with a standardized set of monitoring services, notifications, configuration options like installing Security Manager, enabling Patch Management, scheduled tasks etc.
  • Rules are applied to devices based on selected Filters. This article shows how to exclude a specific device which Device Class is set as the target filter of the rule, if you don't want a specific task, feature or action applied to the device.

Environment

  • N-able N-central

Solution

To exclude the device, go to Configuration > Monitoring > Rules then look for Filter name under the Devices to Target. You will need to go to the Filter itself (Configuration > Filter) then Clone it.

Clone this filter then add the device/devices name to be excluded using the Custom Expression below. Note that you can add one or more devices but you will need to add "AND" expression for each unique device.

Save the Filter, make sure it is available to Everyone then go back to Configuration > Monitoring > Rules and select this new Filter instead to exclude the devices.
