Description
- This article describes how to restore a backup if the N-able N-central server installation becomes corrupt.
Environment
- N-able N-central 10 and later
Solution
1. Set-up a new N-able N-central server with the same version and time zone as the original N-able N-central server.
- N-able N-central Server installation ISO is available from N-ableMe. Please know you must be logged in to access this page.
2. To restore the backup:
- Navigate to the System level.
- Click Administration> System Backup and Restore> Restore Backup.
- Set the Restore Method: to 'From My Computer'.
- For Backup File Name: click on Browse and select your backup file.
- Remove the check mark from Include Network Information.
Unchecking this option allows the restored server to obtain new network settings appropriate for the new environment, preventing issues with the server being unreachable due to mismatched network configurations. For example -
The N-central server is restored to a new location or virtual machine with a different network configuration (e.g., IP address, hostname). Including the old network information would make the restored server unreachable on the new network.
The IP address or network settings have changed since the backup was taken. Restoring the old network information would overwrite the current settings and cause connectivity issues.
Mail configuration is part of the N-central server configuration that is restored from the backup, regardless of whether network information is included.
- Click Save.
